About this deal

I also like the look and the angel of the music rest because it makes the reading sheet music comfortable. You can really split the keyboard for teacher and student (“Partner mode”), but you can’t split it in the usual way – for using different voices for the left and right hand. It is hard to compare this with the B2, as the B2 has varying polyphony depending on the currently selected sound.

The keybed responds as you’d expect, though rapid repeated key presses sometimes fail to register (we’re talking really fast though). The piano’s tones impressed us with their clarity and articulation, as well as their pleasing bass end. The furniture style stand has 2 colors black and white, so you can choose the color that matches the piano. This world-famous German-made piano is beloved by countless pianists for its diverse range of expressive power. The B2 provides connectors that allow using the instrument in conjunction with a variety of software and music hardware. If you were to play one key three times in a row, the B2 each time has the chance to trigger different samples, recreating the experience of playing a real piano, where no two notes ever sound the same. As you will see below, some of the competitors have much more voices included into their instruments, so this is not the best side of B2. I’ve never owned a digital piano before but this is the second B2 I’ve had now from two different retailers and the sound is audible when learning to play.

Don’t expect much from it, but if you are looking for a simple and not very expensive piano Korg B2 can be your choice. The device’s microphone can be used as an input as well, and note detection is spot on from our limited testing with an old iPad 2. There's enough space to spread out several sheets of music, reducing your need to turn pages while performing.

There is a headphone jack to practice peacefully and this jack also doubles as the main output to connect with speakers and amplifiers. The B2 and B2SP use Korg’s NH ( Natural Weighted Hammer Action) keyboard, which is identical to the keys of the previous B1 series.

I prefer Roland’s keyboard action (PHA-4 Standard Keyboard with Escapement) and sound engine, as per me it is more “natural”.

Every genre is covered, with electric piano, organ, harpsichord, strings, and five new piano sounds provided by the new piano engine. I’d say the B2’s design is nearly identical to the past B1, and I’ll reiterate what we said about it before.
