Miles beneath the surface, compounded by thousands of pounds of pressure threatening to instantly turn one into human pate, The Deep begins its saga. This superb, multilayered work will speak to any empathetic reader, and be best appreciated by those steeped in its cultural and artistic context. The Deep finds this difficult initially, believing himself to be so much more than a small-town hero. But now, far below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, deep in the Marianas Trench, an heretofore unknown substance hailed as “ambrosia” has been discovered—a universal healer, from initial reports. The Deep received reviews from outlets such as Publishers Weekly and Culturefly, both of which praised Katsu's writing. In the comics it doesn't appear that The Deep has amorous or arousing zoophilic feelings towards marine animals.Acting: The Deep has participated in the production of multiple films, such as Not Without My Dolphin and Rising Tide.

Lack of fighting skills: The Deep has virtually no fighting skill and relies almost entirely on his powers to take care of his enemies in combat. While at the movie set, he attempts to recruit A-Train and offers him lunch with him and the chairman, Alastair Adana. Grief-stricken, Mark resigned himself to marrying Caroline, but always carried Lillian's journal close to his heart, unable to truly move on.When the big reveal is made at the end of the book – regarding Ambrosia’s origins and its purpose – it’s fairly predictable and underwhelming. Another demonstration of his strength is The Deep being able to swim against the strong rapids of the ocean current without any struggle. The wajinru, are water-breathing merfolk, the descendants of thousands of pregnant African slave women thrown overboard from slave ships crossing the Atlantic. Adam Coffin, the only survivor from Goliath, joins the venture, but his loyalty shifts when he feels slighted by Treece.

He complained to Starlight that Vought only wants him to make "pretty dives" and show off his biceps. Treece concludes that a recent storm has exposed the morphine and unearthed a much older wreck containing Spanish treasure that is beneath Goliath. Wheadon of Common Sense Media found the book "funny but predictable" and gave it three out of five stars. She learns that at the end of her freshman year, her class will be taken on a top secret weekend trial at sea.

Review partner Ian Mond concurs, writing " The Deep is a beautifully written, thoughtful novella, one, that as Diggs says in his afterword, is over far too quickly. Heck, the most tangible and relatable characters of the bunch were LB (the ill-fated Labrador), and Clay (the brilliant, inhuman mad scientist). Booklist's starred review states that "Solomon’s beautiful novella weaves together a moving and evocative narrative that imagines a future created from the scars of the past.
